2020 Bushfire Emergency Appeal

The Tasmanian Walking Company made a commitment to contribute up to $100,000 to support the ongoing Australian bushfire response and recovery efforts.  This included an immediate donation of $50,000 and further $50,000 through matching donations dollar for dollar and contributing $250 from every walk sold. By the end of January 2020, the total raised was $112,000. Funds have been distributed to the following projects:

Kangaroo Island’s infrastructure, wildlife and terrain were decimated by bushfires in January 2020 including 96 per cent of world-renowned Flinders Chase National Park - the location of Australian Walking Company’s Kangaroo Island Lodge Walk project.

WIRES Bushfire Appeal

Small acts of heroism saved many animals lives during the 2020 Australian bushfires. Obi was rescued from one of the most intense blazes to hit New South Wales. The wombat joey suffered burns on his back and two injured legs.

Wildlife Victoria Bushfire Appeal

Wildlife Victoria’s Emergency Response team receives 80,000 requests for help annually and assists over 50,000 animals. The service gives the public somewhere to call every time they find a distressed sick, injured or orphaned native animal.

100% of your donations go directly to our projects. All administrative costs are paid for by the Tasmanian Walking Company and Australian Walking Company.
